Section Mapping

An image can be assigned to any section. If the image is georeferenced, it is positioned automatically. Otherwise, you can position and scale it manually.

Set and map a section image

1. Open the section dialog.
2. In the Image menu, choose Set Image.
3. Start edit mode using Map Image.

Manual mapping controls (Map Image mode)

While in mapping mode, use these controls:

• Hold Left Ctrl + Left Mouse Drag (inside image): move the image.
• Hold Left Ctrl + Left Mouse Drag (on image border): stretch/resize from one edge.
• Hold Left Ctrl + Mouse Wheel: scale the image.
• Properties: manually set image Width, Height, and Anchor position.

When editing is complete:

• Press Enter (or double-click in mapping mode) to save changes.
• Press Escape to cancel and discard current edits.

Pin a reference point

You can pin a point so that point remains fixed while resizing or scaling:

1. Hold Left Ctrl and click the middle mouse button on a point inside the image.
2. Confirm the pin action.
3. Continue stretching or scaling; the image readjusts to keep the pinned point in place.

This is useful when one known feature must stay aligned while you adjust image size.

Image properties

The Image Properties dialog provides:

• Width: set image width on the section plane.
• Height: set image height on the section plane.
• Anchor X / Y / Z: set the image anchor position.

Use this dialog for precise numeric placement after interactive adjustments.

Display or hide image mapping

To control section image visibility:

• Set the section visibility on/off, or

• In the section dialog (Image menu), set the image visible/invisible, or remove it.

Practical notes

• Edge-resize selection is easier when the pointer is close to an image border, mouse cursor will change when on the border; otherwise drag moves the full image.
• If a pinned point is outside the image area, pinning is not applied.
• During mapping, a temporary outline is shown while Ctrl is held to help with visual adjustment.
