Modes

Overview

GENESIS always runs in a specific interaction mode. The active mode appears in the status bar at the bottom of the window (second item).

Mode Control Basics

  • Press Esc to cancel the current action and return to the parent mode.
  • Press Enter to confirm and keep the current action.
  • Use Ctrl + Z to undo and Ctrl + Y to redo.
  • In normal mode, Backspace cancels section navigation and section creation navigation steps.

Normal Mode

Normal Mode is the default mode when GENESIS opens. It is mainly used for viewing, navigating, and selecting objects.

Actions in Normal Mode

  • Left-click and drag to zoom into an area.
  • Double-click to select an object of the active selection type.
  • Mouse wheel forward/backward to zoom in or out.
  • Press and hold mouse wheel to pan.
  • Right-click to open context actions.

Spin in Normal Mode

To rotate around objects, select an object as center, then press S or use the Spin control.

During spin:

  • Left-click and drag to rotate.
  • Double-click to select objects.
  • Ctrl + Double-click to set a new rotation center.
  • Mouse wheel to zoom.
  • Middle mouse drag to pan.
  • Right-click to open context actions.

Measure Distance

  • Press D or choose Measure Distance from the section tools.
  • Draw the distance path with the left mouse button.
  • Measured distance is shown in the interface log output.

Create Mode

Create Mode is used to draw or generate objects.

Create Section

  • Open section creation from context actions.
  • Place the cursor at the section center.
  • Left-click and drag to define the section.

Create Polygon and Polyline

  • Use creation actions for geoline, prism, or figure.
  • Start from context actions or use Ctrl + Insert.
  • You can also use the start control in the digitizing tools.

Create Mineralized Intervals

  • Select a drillhole or assay.
  • Open the object information bubble.
  • Choose Create Mineralized Interval.

Create Solid (Envelope)

  • Select a prism or figure.
  • Use linking actions to build an envelope from selected shapes.
  • Linking can be partially automated depending on context.

Fast Mode

Fast Mode is designed for high-speed work on multiple objects.

Typical Fast Mode Selection Methods

  • Mouse-over selection
  • Rectangle selection
  • Polygon selection

Use Fast Mode when you need to apply one operation across many targets efficiently. To use fast mode, toggle the fast mode button from the ribbon menu in the Fast Mode panel, select an object with double left click and the available operation in fast mode available will have a (fast) written

Modify Mode

Modify Mode is used to edit existing objects.

Modify Polygon or Polyline

  • Select the object.
  • Choose Modify Limits.

Modify Mineralized Intervals

  • Select the interval.
  • Choose Modify Limits.

Modify Solid Tie Mesh

  • Select a prism or a member shape of the solid.
  • Choose Edit Tie Mesh to control how vertices are linked.
